Tale of Two Mages

Ever since beginning a Dragon Age roleplay, I've been wanting to do something for one of my characters. The sketch lines are intentional, as I came to like how the picture developed with them, so I will not be cleaning up the lines..

The elf mage is Emeline, an Orlesian apostate of Dalish descent. Emeline's mother defected from her Dalish clan in search for 'bigger, better things', and came to be a servant to a noble family in Orlais. When Emeline's abilities began to manifest her mother ran away with her in hopes to reach the Tevinter Imperium where her daughter could learn magic freely. However, Emeline's mother is killed by magisters and the young elf girl plots for several months a way to escape, as the ways of Tevinter were far too frightening to an eight year old. She stows away on a ship and finds herself traveling Thedas as an apostate learning magic mostly on her own- wild, and untrained, she struggles to keep her gifts on the down low.
Some years later, while taking up residence in the caverns of the Frostback Mountains, Emeline comes face to face with a handsome, blond runaway Circle Mage named Anders. It is one of the many times Anders attempts to forever escape Kinloch Tower-- this once, he makes a fast friend and confidant. Anders and Emeline become tightly knit over the course of a few months- he teaching her how to control her gifts, she teaching him how to survive in the wild environment, and both dreaming up a world where mages needn't fear the oppression of the Chantry and its Templars.
Eventually, the Templars catch up with them- Anders implores Emeline to run, as she has never been part of a Circle has has no phylactery which can be used to track her down. Stubborn and determined to help her friend, Emeline refuses, only to be caught along with Anders by the Kinloch Templars. They are separated by force, leaving them each wondering what has happened to the other.

Emeline is taken to the Circle in Orlais, as her friend Anders, to this day, fully believes that he inadvertently caused the death or Tranquility of his friend.
